Fall 2013 Runway Nails to Wear Now

A little manicure magic can turn things up a notch and help pull a look together. But is it just me, or is nail art getting really complicated? For those of us with shaky hands or are, should I say, less adventurous, the Fall Winter 2013 runways inspire us with covetable designs that do not require an arsenal of tiny paintbrushes and 5 lacquers or fantastic artistic skills to recreate.

Doodle time! Get artsy cool with abstract nails as seen at Creatures of the Wind. Duplicate this digit-al invention by CND by squiggling fine-tipped sharpies (in whatever colours your inner angsty teenager desires) on one half of each nail over dried nail polish. Here, the nail graffiti was done over base colours of Studio White (top), and Electric Orange and Impossibly Plush (bottom).

Matte sandstone nails at Alexander Wang are soft yet bold, classically nude but with a modern twist, edgy and sophisticated – all at the same time. To nail this fashion-forward textured tip that’s subtle enough for the office, CND nail artists lightly swiped on Impossibly Plush with a fan brush, concentrating mainly on the sides. Soften with a second coat of Speedey, and lightly buff nails with the Glossing Buffer once dry for a time-worn, weathered look of natural stones.

Spunky almond-shaped talons dressed in shocking pink and metallic 3D accents brought Kate Spade’s feminine portrait of a lady (yes…the vintage book-inspired clutch caught our eye too!) to a whole new dimension. Manicurists from Deborah Lippman anchored the look with a pyramidal stud reminiscent of the metal hardware found in Spade’s collection.
